Profile
Simon Jermyn is an electric bassist / guitarist and composer living in New York. Simon tours worldwide regularly and spent time living in The Hague, Reykjavik and Dublin before moving to New York. He holds a Masters Degree in Jazz Perfromance from The Royal Conservatory of The Hague in The Netherlands.

Simon’s debut album as a leader, Trot A Mouse, was released on the prestigious Fresh Sound New Talent record label in 2009. Since then he has recorded for Songlines and released a solo album on Diatribe Records entitled Hymni.

Some recent performance highlights include premiering new music with Morla and the Smith quartet at the Sligo New Music Festival for BBC Radio 3, as well as two European tours with the Pete Robbins Trans Atlantic-Quartet.

2010

• Sligo New Music Festival including the premiere of a new work by Frank Lyons, the music of Gavin Bryars, as well a commissioned new work I composed for the festival. Recorded for BBC Radio 3 with Morla and the Smith string quartet.

• Regular performances in New York with a number of notable musicians including Jeff Williams, Bill McHenry, Pete Robbins, Ryan Blotnick and Fay Victor. Several European tours with the Pete Robbins Trans Atlantic Quartet with performances in Denmark, Spain, Germany, Belguim, Ireland, Switzerland and Sweden, including a live recording for swiss Radio.

• Performances at the Copenhagen Jazz Festival, the Forlignio Young Jazz Festival, the Luxemburg Blues‘n Jazz Rally, Dublin Electronic Arts Festival, Ergodos Festival, Belfast Festival, Cork Jazz Festival, Bray Jazz Festival, Kilkenny Arts Festival, 12Points Festival and the Bottlenote Festival.

2009

• Representing Ireland at 12Points Festival in Dublin with group Morla.
